Cyperus iria Weed Growth, Survival, and Fecundity in Response to Varying Weed Emergence Times and Densities in Dry-Seeded Rice Systems

چکیده
Cyperus iria is amongst the most threatening weeds of rice in Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, and Philippines. Broad knowledge about ecology fecundity C. important for its effective management. Field studies were conducted over two seasons (wet (WS) dry (DS)) to investigate influence populations (40 80 plants m−2) on growth, survival, fertility, with four emergence times, 3, 15, 30, 45 d after (DARE), during 2013. We postulated that (a) higher plant density this weed would result more biomass production viable seeds per unit area, (b) interference reduce weed, (c) delaying lead downsizing percent survival seed bank enrichment soil. The results indicated decreased growth as compared those established without interference. A linear decrease a sigmoid observed both seasons. Plant height was moderately affected up 30 DARE, significant reduction at DARE. There relationship between shoot weight number −1, across-weed density, seeding rate rice, time. production, 1000-seed weight, yield greater when seedlings emerged simultaneously crop (3 DARE) than they late. Under completely stopped delay DARE unable produce current advocate emergence, biomass, can be checked by adopting suitable cultural management practices, which impede relative rice. These enabling respective crops competitive, will foster integrated approaches, thus offering key role detection soil reservoir or pool notorious field.

Response of Rice Genotypes to Weed Competition in Dry Direct-Seeded Rice in India
The differential weed-competitive abilities of eight rice genotypes and the traits that may confer such attributes were investigated under partial weedy and weed-free conditions in naturally occurring weed flora in dry direct-seeded rice during the rainy seasons of 2011 and 2012 at Ludhiana, Punjab, India. The results showed genotypic differences in competitiveness against weeds. In weed-free p...
متن کاملEffect of Weed Management and Seed Rate on Crop Growth under Direct Dry Seeded Rice Systems in Bangladesh
Weeds are a major constraint to the success of dry-seeded rice (DSR). The main means of managing these in a DSR system is through chemical weed control using herbicides. However, the use of herbicides alone may not be sustainable in the long term. Approaches that aim for high crop competitiveness therefore need to be exploited. One such approach is the use of high rice seeding rates. Experiment...
متن کاملThe Inhibitory Effect of Grasshopper's Cyperus (Cyperus iria L.) on the Seedling Growth of Five Malaysian Rice Varieties.
Experiments were carried out in the laboratory and greenhouse to determine the growth inhibitory effects of Grassohopper's cyperus (Cyperus iria L.) on the seedlings of 5 Malaysian rice varieties namely MR211, MRQ74, MR220, MR84 and MR232. Three concentrations of the aqueous extract of the weed (12.5, 25.0 and 50.0 g/l) and weed debris (5, 10 and 20 g dry debris/1000 g soil) were used to test t...
